The Rotorua Museum is housed in an old Bath House, which was opened in 1908. People would come from far and wide to take a bath in the "healing" waters that came from the hot springs. Water was pipped up from beneath the building, straight into baths for tourist, and the rich and famous. We got to view two movies at the museum. One about how the volcanoes have shaped the land and another on how World War II affected the Maori people. Throughout the museum we viewed artifacts and galleries that led us through the past and present. My favorite part was the Nga Pumanawa O Te Arawa- The Beating Hearts of the Arawa. This exhibit held a lot of information about the Maori people, their culture, traditions, and lore. I also enjoyed the view from the top of the building. Cameras were only in certain areas of the museum.
